Surah Al Baqarah 21-25

Sahih International

O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous –

 

 

(2:21:1)

(2:21:2)

First time Allah(swt) is calling us in the quran.

to submit, humility/submissive, anything apparent/hidden we do.

1. obligation/fardh → salah/zakah, fast, etc.

2. approved : to recite quran/etc.

 

3. others that are regular action that can become ‘ibadah.

Eg: for sleeping; follow sunnah read adhkar, kursi, mulk, all qulls and right side. Etc.

Gives meaning of hope: la’alla. A chance of something happening. That is possible. “perhaps this may happen”

– hoped you’d attain taqwa.

second meaning, ta’leel. Reasong behind that action. “so that you may”.

 

Thirdly, gives the expected result of the action. “it may be that this will happen”

 

here la’alla is impling all 3 meaning.

When Allah refers to this, it also carries the certainly meaning.

become righteous.

1. So that you all protect yourselves.

(missed beginning 10min)

 

We were non-existent.

Has a time not come on mankind that he was nothing.

Laqad khalnal insana fi ahsani taqweem ( he created us in most beautifull form)

 

no one can create anything.

Hal ataal ilal ansani.. has it not come a time on man when he was nothin,g not even mentioned.

 

Allah had created heaven and earth but man didnt exist.

 

Ya iyuhannas… you worship the one who created you and those who came before you. He has always been the only rab. To worship Allah(swt).

 

Wa ma khalaqta jinna wa insa illal ta’budun. What is ibada? Whats meant by ibada? Whats included in ibadah?

 

Definition of ibadah: comprises of everything allah approves/loves from sayings, deeds apparent or hidden. Fardh things we do, adhzkar/ sunnah things, also normal day to day act if done with sunnah way, fulfill rights of people, helping each other etc. cooking and cleaning… when you do for sake of Allah(swt).

 

La’alaqum tattaqun.

  1. safegaurd yourselves. From the punishment from allah swwt in this life and hereafter.

  2. Doing things that bring pleasure of Allah(swt).

 

Q: Hasten to the forgiveness of your lord where there are gardens… etc.those are muttaqeen.

 

V44: adopt fear of Allah. Allah is with those who are muttaqeen.

Nahl, 128: indeed Allah is with those who have taqwa. Those who fear him and are doers of good.

Talaq, 122?: whoever fears Allah, allah will make way out for him from any problems/difficulty. >> person is benefiting in this life and hereafter.

 

Allah is addressing all mankind. Message is for all mankind. Importance of ibadah throughout the quran.

 

Allah created Adam (as) by his own hands. He loves us more then 70 mothers.
