How to keep good relations even when your harmed by others

March 2, 2013 at 6:10 pm (Articles, Islam, Parenting, Surah Ali-Imran, Tafsir) (, , , , , , , )

You’ve probably experienced both; being harmed by someone as well as harming someone, whether it was intentional or unintentional. How do you deal with that person? Do you let them go unharmed? Do you reprimand them even though they may be realized they wronged you? What if your the one who harmed them? how would you feel if that person is equally hurtful or worst to you? Would you then let them out of your close relations and drift apart? Do you just change your attitude towards them so that THEY are the ones to drift apart from you? Having trouble with children? siblings? friends? classmates? Here’s an ayah were there is JUST the right dose of relationship trouble resolution for you!

Allah says :

So by mercy from Allah , [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah . Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him].“[Surah ‘Ali’Imran, Verse 159]

forgiveness

This was at the time when prophet(saw) lost many of his loved companions after the battle of Uhud, due to few of the companions disobeying his direct orders. They were disobedient and as a result many sahabas died and Muslims lost an almost won battle. In the above ayah, we see that the prophet (saw) shows leniency towards them. And Allah praises this quality.

Lets go over this ayah and derive lessons for ourselves when dealing with others,

“So because of much mercy from Allah you were lenient to them.”

1. Show leniency to others when they do something wrong and are remorseful

2. Acknowledge you doing this IS also from Allah’s mercy
Thank Allah, do not get proud/arrogant for it! Not a favour your doing to them)

“And had you been rude, hard of heart, surely they would disperse from near you.”

rudeHarsh

3. Don’t be rude

Amongst quality of one who is hypocrites is that when they argue they are rude/use foul language

4. Don’t be hard hearted

Its hard to overlook pain caused by someone’s mistake. Try to put yourself in their shoes. How would you feel, if YOU were the one who did the same? Would you want them to show harshness to you, especially when your already sorry for it?

If you ARE rude or hard towards others every time they make a mistake or harm you, it will lead to them going away from you. Rather, if you avoid being rude or hard, your more likely to have good lasting relationships. And the whole incident of you being harmed will become source of great reward inshaAllah.

“Forgive from them and seek forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter.”

5. Forgive them

Even if you were kind and lenient to them, did not show rudeness or harshness towards you, you might be feeling really hurt. Upset. And inside you, this will waste a lot of your time and harm you. UNLESS you truly forgive them. For the sake of Allah only.  Here, Allah is saying just that, forgive them. You can’t really be kind to them unless you DO forgive them. And if that doesn’t work for you. Their’s a quote usually forward “Forgiveness isn’t something we do for others. We do it so we can get well and move on.” But actually, the muslim should say, “Forgiveness is something we do FOR Allah. We do it so we can purify ourselves and move towards jannah.”

6. Seek forgiveness for them

For me, this was a gem! Not only to forgive them, but to also seek forgiveness for them! If Allah doesn’t forgive us or them, then that relationship is bound to not be a truly success one. So we seek forgiveness for them! Don’t forget, the hadith of the prophet, that may his hands be rubbed in dust! Who? The one whose parents attained old age, but he didnt attain jannah through them. Meaning, even though the child wasn’t doing something good for parents. It resulted in his failure to attain jannah. When we harm someone, we should also seek Allah’s forgiveness. Not just that persons. Similarly, if we really do forgive someone, and care about them. We should seek Allah’s forgiveness for them!

discussion7. Consult them in the matter

This one will be a proof for whether or not you really DID forgive them! :) Surely, you won’t be comfortable talking, discussing or consulting the one your angry, upset with! would you? And similarly, consulting with them, makes them feel like you still care about them and did forgive them! Consult them, even if you don’t think you may benefit from them. Why? You don’t like what they did? Allah says, in Surah An-Nisa, verse 19 “…You may hate them or think something is bad in them, but Allah makes in them source of much good” فَإِن كَرِهۡتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكۡرَهُواْ شَيۡـًٔ۬ا وَيَجۡعَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيۡرً۬ا ڪَثِيرً۬ا
So, my friend, we don’t know what’s kheir in another person for us. Only Allah knows.

“So when you resolved firmly, then put your trust in Allah.”

decision8. Make firm decision/resolution

Once, you’ve discussed it, done istikhara, then make a firm decision, don’t deli daali. Be firm. Don’t waste time in always changing your decision. AND….

9. Put your trust in Allah

Be content. Trust Allah.  You followed all His orders in taking this decision. He will make the outcome to be what’s best for you. Not necessarily best for your “wants”, but for your “needs”. Who knows best what our needs are, then the one who created us! The All-High, the All-Mighty Powerful and Most wise!

Lastly, the ayah ends with a great bonus to motivate us for putting our trust in Allah. How would you feel rather WHAT what you be willing to GIVE to be one of the elite ones LOVED by the ALWAYS GREATEST KING of ALL times?

trust

“Indeed Allah loves those who trust Him.”

10. Seek Allah’s Love

This is the crux of the Ayah. the cream of the pie.  You want Love of Allah. You get the LOVE of Allah. by doing the above. He LOVES those who put their trust in Him.  Imagine that! Just to TRUST Him azwajall you gain His love.  And ufcourse, with the Love of Allah, you will be amongst those who are successful. :)

May Allah(swt) make us amongst the mutawakkileen whom He loves. (Ameen Wa Ajma’een)

surah baqarah 17-20

January 8, 2013 at 4:31 am (Islam, Surah Al-Baqarah) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Previously traits /quality of hypocrites. Now we will learn exacmples of hypocrites. So that intangible can be understand from example. Not an abstract anymore.

If you have nifaq in heart, its considered kufr. Other hypocricy is one says one saying but not doing it by limbs/actions. This is a hypocricy but not disbeliever

Verse 17:

Their example is that of one who kindled a fire, but when it illuminated what was around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness [so] they could not see.

Three opnions for “those who”:

1: refers to prophet lighting the fire. Meaning by coming the prophet(saw) came to medinah, he lit the fire of guidance and the entire city of medina got islam. With that they (disbelieve/hypocrite) took islam got noor but later it left their hearts.

2: refers to anyone asking for guidance from prophet. Tawqada can also means to ask to light fire/guidance.

3: leaders of the hypocrites, who saught to light the fire for guidance. Abdullah ibn umay? Wanted to get guidance and and he did become muslim. He saught light of iman and became muslim. But then when all light is all around him… Allah took away this light and left him in the darkness. Why?? Allah left him b/c of consequence of his action. (refer to previous ayah’s they were mocking, should be believe like disbelievers believed? So iman hadn’t really entered iman. It was a weak light. And the intention was just to gain some worlldy benefit, so doubt/hypocrisy overcame.

Verse munafiqun: b/c they believed then disbelieved and as a consequence of their evil way their hearts were sealed over.

Surah saf, verse 5: when they deviated Allah caused their hearts to deviate. And Allah doesn’t guide the hearts of severe deviant.

Another reference: he penalize with this in their heart b/c they use to habitually used to lie. Attitude of deceiving believers. Till they die. B/c they inclined towards kufr.

Why does this happen in a person? Prophet preached all people. And some were really true believers/sincere.

> They are not absorbing the knowledge/hearing. Not really listening. These ppl had biases. They had desires. Their ego/arrogance. Opposite of humility.

Eg: one leader … when prophet saw came , he was made leader and that old leader was jeolous.

-They never used their faculties to use it for guidance. So Allah took it away from them and they wont become guided.

> guidance is for those who sincerely seek it/desire it.

Surah Al Fatiha

January 8, 2013 at 4:08 am (Surah Fatihah, Tafsir) (, , , , , , , )

Review of September 5th, 2012 class (Alhuda Canada)

Fatiha mean: the Opening

Mecci surah – according to hijrah, when prophet (saw) didnt’ migrage to Medina. They are called Mecci surahs. After his migration to medina, they are referred to as Medni surahs.

Names of Surah Fatiha:Ummul Kitab, Ashshifa, ruqya, saba ul mathani, as salah, al asaas, al hamd, fatihatul kitab.

Greatest surah of Quran? Fatiha.

Greatest ayat: Kursi

Hadith when jibreel was with prophet, heard a loud sound and an angel came… gave glad tidings of two lights (noor). That haven’t been given before. It was surah fatiha and last ayaat of surah baqarah (different openions on 2 or 3 last ayat) excellence of surah fatiha, you wont read a letter of the surah that you will be given benefit. The first surah to be revealed in its entirety.

Why is surah fatiha so special? Intro to whats ahead, praise the lord of alamin, etc.

Salah is not complete without Surah Fatiha. As we recite, Allah responds to that. Its a ruqya.

Prophet (saw) said its the best dua.

Recite ta’abud: “audho billahi minash shaytani rajeem” We are seeking refuge in Allah from Shaytan. Asked to do this in surah nahl? Vs 14. this in itself is command and good deed. Shaytan doenst want guidance for us, he wants his followers to come with him to hellfire. His purpose of longer life.

You can do this at anytime, when you feel any distraction is stopping you from something you want to focus on. Immediately seek refuge in Allah, with iklhas and you’ll see the effect.

Besmallah: importance, Name of Allah. What are we saying? Bismillah. With name of Allah. Every task we start, we must begin with name of Allah. “for sake of Allah” We want blessing/protection of Allah. When a person needs help, they seek the person of status who can help them….a muslim seeks means first and relies first upon Allah.

 Verse 2: Alhamdulillahi rabbil alamin

how is hamd different from other praise? Praise for the one who really deserves it. We also mention most perfect attribute of Allah and that He is entirely deserving. Alhamdulillahi is ONLY for Allah.

What kind of praise is it? It is the most sincere praise. Basedon love and respect.

Generally if we praise people or child, etc. We want some benefit from them. “your sucha good boy, you dont do this…” we are really trying to calm a crying kid or something. But Alhamd is out of love and reverance for Allah. It includes gratitude automatically words of praise comes to your tongue.

Prophet(saw) said Allah is happy with the servant who does basic things like eating etc… and he remembers Allah. Make a habit of saying Alhamdulilah. It is also given a lot of reward. Alhamdulillah tamlakul mizan… it fills up the scales of good deeds. But when it is done sincerely. Because He is…

Rabbal alamin.

Rabb: Khaliq (creator), Malik (owner), Mudabbir (planner, taking care of affair of creation)

Whats included in Alam?

Single of ‘alamin (worlds). Everything that exists is ‘Alameen. Everything that exists except Allah. Alam is world of humans. But “Alaameen” is plural. Worlds! Galaxy, worlds that are unknown to us. Alalh is the creator of ALL. He is Owner and Sustainer of them all.

Verse 3: Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem:

Sense of Aww when you reflect and read the previous ayat. Immediately Allah tells us He is also he is MOST mercifull and also especially mercifull to us muslims.

Root: Rahma. Rahman: extra alif and noon… excessive mercy. For this world. For ALL. Attribute. While Raheem is especially for beleivers. Attribute is actually shown.

What happens when people who are given authority? Pharoah… exploited power. But Allah despite His great power, he is Rahman and Raheem. But b/c people exploit this mercy… Allah reminds also that He is…

Verse : Maaliki yamid deen.

He will also be taking our account. Think of people who don’t do anything yet Allah still continues to give to them. For all creatures are continuing to sustain, etc. eg a child in mothers womb. Mother is not in control Allah is taking care of the fetus. Then Allah provides baby a family etc. as the child grows and independent, Allah gives provision and intelligence to human beings.

Imagine you bought upa child… gave him food, shelter etc… but when he is independent he denys you … that you dont exist. Similarly people do that to Allah. They sometime deny or they give credit to others (saints, etc). But does Allah stop His blessing for them? No, He continues to provide for them. Allah also gives a sopouse and family. He also put love and mercy between spouse . As a mercy for us! But we never pay any importance to any of this.

Prophet (saw) said any kindness/mercy you see is from Allah. Allah has divided mercy 100 parts. Kept 99 parts and sent down 1 part. 1 single part that the creatures all share…. a lion will kill others but it will lift its hue so that the fu stays safe. His own child he protects. Likewise, mother… bears for 9 months.

Innama autitu…’ilmi. B/c I have gained knowledge, I have been given it. “this is my talent”… bad attitude….

It’s from ALLAH. Remember that.

To whom belongs soveignity of this day? To Allah. So He will be the only Maalik that day.

The day that the spirit, jibreel and the angels will stand alone… even mighty angels will be standing in attendance. No one will be allowed to say a word. Only the one allowed by Allah will be alowed to speak. We have to stand infront of Allah that day.

Does man think that man will be left neglected? That Allah created us for no reason? No. Surah inshiqaq vs 6 O mankind you labrouing to your Lord with great exergion and you will be meeting Allah one day. So what should we be doing? After all this realization?

Iyaka na’budo wa iyaka nasta’een

Ibada? Any action done for Allah is ibada. Linguistically includes submissiveness,

Ihdinas siratul mustaqeem.

guide us to our destination.

Hidaya tow types. Irshad and tawfeeq. Irshad knowledge of deen/information. ‘ilmi. Tawfeeq is when given oppurtunity to implement the deen. Only given when one desires to do good.

Why Allah doesnt give tawfeeq to all? Why Allah chooses someone and not others? The one who makes effort and heart is yearning for it. They go out ofr it and looks for it. One has the yearning to do it.

Allah says, whoever Allah guides is the rightly guided. Allah also knows what actions will lead to the akhira. Path of sharia (anam, 153): this is my path, which is straight, islam. So follow it. Right is what Allah set, contradiction to that is not right.

More description,

Sirtal ladhi na an amta alayhim.

Who are ppl whom Allah blessed. Those who minin nabiya, siddiqeen, shuhudaa salaheen wa hasana aulaika … nisa 69. those are the best of companions. Are we making efforts to be like them? This is where our efforts should be. We should be reading about them and following them. These are the books that you should read to your children. The Martyrs of Islam.

Gayril maghdubi alayhim

what is gadab? Anger where its feeling of revenge… person knowling did something wrong. He had all the information but he still did something wrong. People in past paharaoh, nuh’s ppl, bani israle..

etc. some ppl think its the ones who know and dont do that earn Allah’s anger… so is it okay to not gain the knowledge?

walad dhaaalieen.

dhalal: has no information of deen. He was ignorant, dhalal. It is blameworthy as well. Gaining knowledge is an obligation upon every muslim.

Categories of people mentioned:

an amta alayhim: those who are blessed with favors by Allah.

maghdubi: those who earned anger, they were punished.

Dhaalleen: those who were ignorant, they will also be taken to account by Allah.

Which type of people are we? Are we looking for knowledge and want to be amongst those who Allah blessed His favors.

Ameen.

Aameen. O Allah listen and accept form us.

Muslim hadith; if anyone says ameen and angel from heaven say ameen in unison, then the previous sins are forgiven.

Hadith: Allah divided surah fatiha in two parts. Btw myself and my servant. When he says, Alhamdulilah… Allah says, my servant has praised me…

next my servant has glorified me

. glorified and put all affairs to me

this is between me and my servant and he shall get what he sought.

Ihdinas siratull…. waladdaalin.

This is for my servant and he shall acquire what he asks for.

When will Allah respond, when we say it from our heart. Prophet(saw) would pause after every ayat….

Reflection:

I pray that Allah keeps me guided… and also makes me do the ibadah in the best way… then I think that subhanallah I ask this every single day in fatihah… now my fear is only to maintain this feeling of submissiveness and gratitude. How can I maintain it? I pray its through learning more about my Rabb, I pray that I am able to continue in attaining more ilm and that Allah accepts it from me and us all and allows us to continue until death. Subhanallah I want to go pray 2 nafls. So I can feel the sakina again. And I fear to lose this oppurtunity and blessing for having Al-Fatiha recited to another day, time or minute. walhamdulillahir rabbil ‘alamin.

Where’s that cake I brought?!

December 7, 2012 at 3:54 am (Surah Al-Baqarah, Tafsir) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

So you’ve spent quite a bit of time in making that cake (or buying it!) and have gifted it to soemone’s party.  Dessert time comes, your eyes race through the items only to find that your cake’s missing! What do you do?  Ok.  Let me make it clearer.  It’s evident that the host knows you bought a cake, but didn’t want to serve it.  You feel upset, you say casually to your friend, “where’s that cake I made for you”

This just happens to be a milder version of doing mann  with someone.  What is mann?  In arabic, mann comes from the root م ن ن .  Manna linguistically means to cut off.  Since you are cutting off the need of the one your doing the favor of AND possibly their tongue, in not being able to tell you off back!  As now they are in your debt so to speak.  It is a sinful act, done either verbally or by actions of the individuals in dealing with the oen they did favors upon.  It can be direct or indirect.  This is sinful act.

The extremely worst kind would be say you did favours to someone and kept reminding them of it explicitly. Whether it was to make them do something back for you, or simply show off and/or “remind” them when they are good to you how you’ve always done things for them.   Allah says, regarding such acts

“O you who have believed, do not invalidate your charities with reminders or injury as does one who spends his wealth [only] to be seen by the people and does not believe in Allah and the Last Day. His example is like that of a [large] smooth stone upon which is dust and is hit by a downpour that leaves it bare. They are unable [to keep] anything of what they have earned. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people” [Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 264]

Beautiful-Rock-Formation-4

Now you may say, its a bit harsh?  Well we say, “Action is but by its intention” meaning, if you intended it to show off, or to make someone happy, or to get praise and acknowledged  then you may or may not receive it.  But theirs one thing you’ll definitely not be getting, reward for that deed by Allah(swt) as it wasn’t done for Him.

As for those who truly do their deeds sincerely, Allah says:

Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders [of it] or [other] injury will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.” [Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 262]

So next time; gift that cake for sake of Allah and be happy!  Even when your host decides to keep it for whatever reason that is no longer of concern to you!

Ramadan Duas

October 20, 2006 at 11:58 am (Duas, Islam) (, , )

Du’as for Fasting

When beginning the fast– Suhur

Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri ramadan

I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan
[abu Dawud]

When breaking the fast– Iftar

Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu [wa ‘alayka tawakkaltu] wa ‘ala rizq-ika aftarthu

O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You [and I put my trust in You] and I break my fast with Your sustenance
[“wa ‘alayka tawakkaltu” is quoted in some books of knowledge – but not all, hence it is in brackets]
[abu Dawud]

dhahabadh-dhama’u wab-tallatil ‘urūūqi, wa thabatal arju inshaAllah

The thrist is gone, the veins are moistened and the reward is confirmed, if Allah [Ta’ala] Wills
[abu Dawud 2:306]

Allaahumma inni as’aluka birahmatika al-lati wasi’at kulli shay’in an taghfira li

O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy which envelopes all things, that You forgive me.
[a du’a that Abdullah ibn Amar (radiAllahu anhu) used to say when breaking his fast – as reported by Ibn abi Mulaykah (radiAllahu anhu)]

When someone offers you food when you are fasting and you decline

When you are invited to eat, then reply to the invitation. if you are fasting, then invoke Allah’s blessings (on your host), and if you are not fasting then eat
[Muslim; 2:1054]

Upon reaching month of Rajab and Sha’ban

When the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) sighted the moon of Rajab (two months before Ramadan) he used to pray to Allah in the following words:

اَللّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِى رَجَبَ وَ شَعْبَانَ وَ بَلِّغْنَا رَمَضَان

Allahumma barik lana fi Rajab wa Sha’ban wa ballighna Ramadan

O Allah! Make the months of Rajab and Sha’ban blessed for us, and let us reach the month of Ramadan (i.e. prolong our life up to Ramadan, so that we may benefit from its merits and blessings)
[Narrated by at-Tabarani and Ahmad]

When you are fasting, and someone is rude to you

Inni sa’iimu, inni sa’iimu

I am fasting, I am fasting
[Sahih al-Bukhari, Fath al-Bari of Al-Asqalani; 4:1-3, Muslim; 2:806]

Upon Sighting of the new Moon

Allahu Akbar. Allahumma ahillahu ‘alayna bil-amni wal-imaani, was-salaamati, wal-Islami, wat-tawfeeqi lima tuhibbu Rabbana wa tardha. Rabbuna wa RabbukAllahu

Allah is the Greatest. O Allah bring us the new moon with security and faith, with peace and in Islam, and in harmony with what our Lord Loves and what pleases Him. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah
[at-Tirmidhi 5:504, ad-Darimi 1:336]

Upon seeing the first dates of the season

Allahumma barik lana fi thamarina, wa barik lana fi madinatina, wa barik lana fi saa’ina, wa barik lana fi muddina

O Allah! Bless us in our dates, and bless us in our town, bless us in our saa’ and in our Mudd’
(saa’ and Mudd’ are dry measures used for agricultural produce by the Arabs in the Prophet’s time)
[at-Tirmidhi 5:504, ad-Darimi 1:336]

Recited at intervals of taraweeh prayers

Subhana dhil Mulki wal Malakuti, Subhana dhil izzati wal aDhmati wal haybati wal Qudrati, wal kibriyaa’i wal jabaroot Subhanal Malikil hayyil ladhi, la yunaamu wa la yamūtu, Subbuhun, Quddusun, Rabbul malaa’ikati war-rooh

Glorified is the Owner of the Kingdom of the earth and the heavens; Glorified is the Possessor of Honour and Magnificence and Awe, and Power and Greatness and Omnipotence
Glorified is the Sovereign, the Living, Who does neither sleep nor die
O all Glorious, All Holy one, Our lord and the Lord of the Angels, And the soul.
There is no God but You, Forgive us, Grant us Paradise, and save us from (hell) fire.

Upon breaking the fast in someone’s home

Aftara ‘indakumus saa’imuna, wa akala ta’aamakumul-abraaru, wasallat ‘alaikumul mala’ikat

May those who are fasting break their fast in your home, and may the dutiful and pious eat your food and may the angels send prayers upon you.
[abu Dawud 3:367, ibn Majah 1:556, an Nasa’i]

On Lailatul Qadr – the Night of Power

Aishah (radhiya Allahu Ta’ala anha), that she said: “O Messenger of Allah! What if I knew which night Lailatul-Qadr was, then what should I say in it?” He said ‘Say

Allahumma innaka ‘affuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni’ “ O Allah You are The One Who pardons greatly, and loves to pardon, so pardon me.
[at Tirmidhi]

English Meaning Translated by Dr. S. Ahmad

Oh Allah, all praise is due to You; and to You is due all gratitude and thanks; and to You returns all matters – the open of them, and the hidden of them

Glory to the Lord of power and dominion; glory to the One who will not die; glory to the One who gives life to His creation, and He will not die

[–]

[–]

Glory to the One who is Lord of all lords [arbaab]; glory to the One who facilitates all means; glory to the One whose throne [`arsh] is in the heavens, and in the earth is His authority [sultaan]; glory to the One whom no creature of this life [dunyaa] can see, and Whom no sense can perceive; and Whom description seekers cannot perceive; and Whom incidents do not change; and He does not fear His creatures

He knows the weight of the mountains; and the measure of the oceans; and the count of rain; and the number of veins of the trees; and the amount of the darkness of nights and the brightness of days

Oh Giver of refuge for those who seek refuge; Beloved of those who love; Hope of those who are cut off [munqat`iyeen]; Raiser of the fallen; The One who is with broken hearts; Who answers the calls of the dejected; the Mercy of this life and the hereafter and the Compassion of both; Who answers the desires of those in need

He knows the minds of the silent; One who does not have a partner from whom He must seek, or an angel from whom He asks and is refused, or one who is thankful to Him but is deprived

Glory is due to Allah, and praise; all glory is due to Allah

Oh Allah, guide us by Your favor among those whom You have guided; and forgive us among those whom You have forgiven; and be our Protector among those whom You have protected; and bless us in all that You have given us; and save us and keep away from us any evil which You have decreed; verily You decree and none decrees besides what You decree; and none is abased whom You befriend; and none holds power whom You oppose. Blessed are You, our Lord, exalted; and to You are due all thanks, for Your blessings and bounty; we seek forgiveness from Allah from all sins and we repent to You; there is no refuge or place of shelter except for to You

Oh Allah, distance our sins [ma’seeya] from our obedience to You that will lead us to paradise; and indeed from certainty in faith [yaqeen] comes difficulty in the life of this world [dunyaa]

And bless us our hearing, and our sight, and our faculties, as long as You allow us to live; and make them protectors for us against the transgressions we have committed; and make us victorious over our enemies; and do not allow us to have problems in our deen; and do not allow us to make the life of this world our greatest concern; and remove from us difficulty in attaining knowledge; and do not make hellfire our destination; and make jannah our home; and do not impose upon us, because of our sins, people who lack mercy and do not fear You (as authorities over us)

by Your mercy, oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy

Oh Allah, preserve us with steadfastness in Islam while we’re standing; and preserve us in Islam while we’re sitting; and preserve us in Islam while we’re sleeping

Oh Allah bless us with a pure life; and an easy death; and a return to You without grief and difficulty;

Oh Allah help us with our death; and with the grave and its punishment; and from slipping from the siraat; and the Day of Reckoning and its terror

Our Lord, You created us in the best of forms; and You granted us sustenance from Your bounty; and You taught us and gave us guidance; and then we disobeyed You openly, but You forgave us; and we committed sins, but You availed us from them; Your generosity has been descending upon us, yet we sin easily, and we are weak; if You look to our account then we indeed deserve punishment; but Your mercy is more expansive than our sins, so grant us Your mercy, oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy

Oh Allah give us, and do not deprive us; and increase for us, and do not decrease us; and be generous to us, and do not be severe with us; and grace us, and do not disgrace us; and help us, and do not forsake us

Oh Allah, make white our faces (with light); and give us our books on our right; and raise our degrees in status; and make our balances heavy (on the side of good); and overlook our sins [sayee`aat]

Oh Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth; Lord of Majesty and Bounty; by Your power which does not exhaust, we ask, Oh Allah, Oh the Most Merciful

Make our vision lighted by Your Book; so that our tongues will manifest (from it); and lighten our graves (with it); and by it forgive our sins [dhunoob]; and improve with it our affairs

by Your mercy, oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy

Oh Allah, allow the month of Ramadan to be completed in Your pleasure; [–]; and with us attaining the success of entering Your garden

Oh our Lord, this holy month has indeed past; and we stand fearful and shaking before You; and we hope in You; accept from us, our Lord, our fasting [sawm]; and our standing in worship [qiyaamina]; and our prayers [salaatina]; and our remembrance [adhkaarina]; and all our deeds; and do not reject our deeds on the Day of Judgement, the Day of regret and shame

Oh our Lord, close all gates except Your gate; and do not reject us from Your presence; and if You do so, we have no power nor strength save You

La ilaha illa Allah… He who wills the number of footsteps on the surface of the earth, and on steps; and all praise is due to Allah, He in Whose hand is the keys of escape [farraj]

Oh our Hope when all doors are closed; and our Hope when all links are cut; and when there is a barrier between us and our family and our people (and we stand alone)

La ilaha illa Allah… oh Allah do not let this gathering disperse except when our sins are forgiven; and our efforts accepted; and our good deeds counted

Oh the Powerful, the Most Forgiving; by Your mercy, oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy

Oh Allah, forgive all the Muslims that have died who bore witness to Your oneness; and (who bore witness) to Your messenger with his message; and who died upon that

Oh Allah, forgive them and grant them Your mercy; and pardon them; and be generous with them; and bless their arrival; and make wide their entrance; and wash them with water and coolness; and purify them from their sins as clothes are washed of dirt

Oh Allah reward them and grant them goodness in the best way; and pardon and forgive their sins [sayee`aat]; so that they feel tranquility in their graves; and so that on the day of judgement they will be among the protected ones;

Oh Allah, move them from the narrowness of the grave and the insects, to everlasting jannah; with [–], comfort and vast shade

Oh Allah, grant us mercy when we reach where they have reached, under casket and soil, alone; oh Allah, grant us mercy when our families wash us; and mercy when they shroud us; and mercy when they carry us on their shoulders; and mercy when they lower us into our graves; and mercy when they throw on us dirt

by Your mercy, oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy

oh Allah, bring down upon our graves the light of our fasting; and the light of our prayers [salah]; and the light of our recitation of Qur’an

by Your mercy, oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy

Oh Allah, who hears all; and who can revive the dead; and who will dress the bones with flesh after death; have mercy on our weaknesses; straighten our affairs; and end our deaths in good deeds

Oh Allah ornament our graves with the gardens of paradise; [–]

by Your mercy, oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy

oh Allah, forgive the Muslim men and the Muslim women; and the believing men and the believing women; those living and those dead; You are our Protector; Hearer, the Near, the One who answers our dua

Oh Allah, we ask You for all good [khayr]; the sooner of it and the later; what we know of it and what we don’t know; and we seek refuge in You from all evil [sharr]; the sooner of it and the later; what we know of it and what we don’t know

Oh Allah, whatever You have distributed in this blessed night of health and well being, then make us, oh our Lord, among the fortunate who receive from this distribution; and whatever You have distributed in this night of trial [bala`a], keep it from us and from the Muslims

Oh Allah strengthen Islam and the Muslims; and disgrace shirk and the mushrikeen; and smash the enemies of the deen

Oh Allah, our Lord, better the condition of the Muslims; oh Allah better the young of us; and better the old of us; and better the women of us; and make better the children of us; and our spouses

Oh Allah, forgive the Muslim women, those present and those absent; oh Allah, raise their status; and make secure their dignity and honor [awraat]; and accept from them their good deeds

by Your mercy, oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy

Oh Allah, help Your forces and Your devoted servants [awliyaa] of those who believe [mumineen]; amongst the elders, the scholars, and the pious [shuyookh, ulema, saliheen]

by Your mercy, oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy

Oh Allah, we ask You by Your beautiful names; and Your exalted attributes; in this blessed night; save our necks from the hellfire Oh Allah, save our necks from the hellfire Oh Allah, save our necks from the hellfire

Oh Allah, save the necks of our fathers; and our mothers; and our brothers; and our sisters; and our paternal uncles; and our paternal aunts; and our maternal uncles; and our maternal aunts; and those who love us for Your sake; and those who love each other for Your sake; and those who lead us to good [khayr]; and those who facilitate good; and all the Muslims, oh Lord of the worlds

Oh Allah, help Your servants and the mujahideen in Your way in all places; Oh Allah help your worshippers in Chechnya; and in Bosna; and in Palestine; and in Lebanon; and in all other places

Oh Allah, make firm their feet; Oh Allah guide their aim; oh Allah, join them on the word of clear truth

Oh our Lord..

Overlook our sins when we reach The Gate and do not return us in disappointment

Oh Allah, accept our dua Oh Allah, accept our dua Oh Allah, accept our dua

and do not return us in disappointment; and do not deprive us from Your generosity that we seek; and do not return us deprived from Your blessings

Oh Allah, make us from amongst the fortunate who will attain the reward of laylatul qadr Oh Allah, make us from amongst the fortunate who will attain the reward of laylatul qadr Oh Allah, make us from amongst the fortunate who will attain the reward of laylatul qadr

by Your mercy, oh the Most Merciful of those who show mercy

Oh our Lord, grant us good in this life, and good in the hereafter, and keep us from the punishment of the fire

Oh Allah, we seek refuge in You from Your displeasure [sakhatik]; and we seek Your forgiveness, and we seek refuge in You from Your punishment

I cannot account for the praises that are due to You; You are as You praise Yourself. And peace and blessings be upon the messenger Muhammad, and upon his family and companions.

Ameen.
